Goodbye Home 1
This is part of a series about the loss of this woman's home. I stopped by a planned house burning conducted by a local fire department as a training exercise. My plan was th take a few shots of the fire fighters in action. I struck up a conversation with Marilyn, the former owner of the house and learned there was much more to the story.
Marilyn lived in the house for 42 years where she and her late husband raised their six children. She was forced to move two years ago due to flooding. On this day Marilyn, tow of her daughters and several grandchildren attended the burning to say one last goodbye to their home.
The fire fighters lit a starter fire using straw and oil inside the house. As Marilyn watched the house fill with smoke she turns away in tears.
